Stop, cease, desist

If you have clicked on a link and it seems to be taking a long time to load, (or you change your mind about loading it … ) you can stop the loading by clicking on the Stop button. It changes from red to grey and the meteor shower stops. You can do the same thing by pressing the Esc key on the keyboard.

How do I get back to ...

If you've been travelling around and find yourself in territory you're not interested in, you can get back to where you came from by clicking on the Back button. This takes you back to the previous page. After you've gone back you can then go Forward (this takes you to where you just came back from).

If you want to get back to somewhere you visited a while ago, you can get back to it in one step by clicking and holding down the Back button. A list drops down with the recently visited sites. Click on the site you want to go back to. This list changes depending on how you visit places - so sometimes you can't get there from here.

Getting home again

Among the options that can be setup to personalise your use of the browser is the Home page. This page is where the browser starts. The home page can be any HTML file on the Internet (it can even be a HTML file on your own computer). A fairly usual home file is your ISP's home page so that you can keep track of any news your ISP may have.

If you wander far and wide from home, there is a button on the tool bar which can return you quicker than you can say "There's no place like home …". This button is marked Home.
