search engines

There are three main ways you can investigate the Internet (Surf the 'net, cruise the information super-highway). The first is to take pot luck and wander wherever your interest takes you.

The second is to find interesting sites to visit. You can find Internet addresses in magazines, books and TV.

The third is to try to create some organisation from the chaos by using a search engine, a software program that builds lists of files and what is in them. These are automatic programs. They wander through the Internet looking at links that they have not seen before and adding them to a database list.

There are many search engines. To get a complete list of search engines select Directory | Internet search from the menu bar.
